What is Palliative Care?
An objective of this website is to educate the public about the field of palliative care. Patients who pass in an intensive care unit (ICU) often do so attached to machines. There is another option.
Palliative care is care provided to those diagnosed with a life-limiting disease. This type of care focuses on comfort for patients. It aims to manage disease symptoms while concurrently providing curative measures as desired by patients. Palliative care's goal is to maximize the quality of life for patients living with serious illness.
Comparison of care
The mission of this website is to create a healthier dialogue about the dying process and highlight an underutilize field of medicine.
A secondary goal is to dispel the various myths and misconceptions surrounding the end-of-life process, inform the public about palliative care, and help people begin to plan for the eventuality of death.
"We're living better than ever before, but we're not dying well."
